Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I purchased a grande from Amazon last week and it arrived cloudy.  I contacted Lava Lite for a replacement and this is what I received:

You will have to go back to Amazon for  a replacement or refund.

We are out of stock on all Grandes until mid- December.

Best regards,

LAVA LITE

Not sure if this means that they are just out of stock or if they are working on fixing the cloudy lamp problem.

sounds like it's a supply issue and not replacement.  here is a follow-up e-mail:

We are sold out and will not receive replacement stock till mid-December as noted.

The cloudy issue was resolved late last year.  There may be a few left out there based on sell thru.

i got the same message too...this really blows!

I wouldn't except anything less then a cloudy lamp whenever you purchase them via online especially a grande.

i don't have any other choices, so fingers crossed on the new one that is due to arrive nov. 7.

did you do an exchange with amazon?

yes, and it was rather painless.  they are going to pick-up the old one from my house ans send me a new one with 2-day shipping.  i did not have to pay for shipping either way.

Funny enough, the one lamp I did get shipped, a Marley Grande from Amazon, came clear as can be.  Of course it overheated so violently that the lava completely abandoned the coil within hours.  The replacement shipped by Lava Lite (30 or so miles away) came like pea soup.

This might be the reason or not. But I have seen this happen. When we were in buisness we used to stock way up on our best sellers. One of them were grandes. The shopping season started up for us on the first week of October. People buy all sorts lighting decor for halloween and then it continues into the November and December Christmas season. We would purchase up to 50 grande lamps and we would sell all of them. So if you're a retailer and you wait till November to place your Christmas order then you might be out of luck. If you're in buisness and you do not have your best sellers then you may be out on potential profits.

makes sense!

The one thing that I will point out though is that with every new batch of lamps is opportunity for them to correct every issue. So keep your fingers crossed and hope that they will correct the cloudy problem.

Do you have a Spensers nearby?  A local Spensers I was at last week at a Grande in stock.
