Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

...do any of yall run your lamps continuously, all the time?  I never turn mine off!  Not sure if this will cause me problems down the line, but hasn't yet.  Really haven't been GOOing for long tho...

Share, if you will, YOUR scheduling preference and why/how you dewit, or what you've learned from it.

Thanks!

Kirk, if I had that many lamps in a month, my husband would freak out.  I have made, so far, only two bad mistakes, but hopefully the problem (not cloudy, but milk for liquid) can be fixed, when I learn how to do it.  I like the lamps, but not the milk, and the pictures shown (not canned either) showed perfectly clear lamps.  I'll ask if THAT is the lamp I am getting next time.  I am on ebay constantly and am usually (knock on wood), very good at the bidding, it is just the "finding."   I'll hang in there, and keep the damper closed on impulse buys.  :-)    If you list any of yours, please tell me.

Here is the red glitter Blip I won http://www.ebay.com/itm/271193444060?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_....  Not a bad deal, and a sweet, little lamp.  When this addiction first started, it was all about the lava.  Now, I really like the glitters, too.

Libby - your problem with the milky/cloudy liquid could very easily be caused by shipping.  Advice on the site says to run it for a month or more to clear it up.  If it doesn't clear, use one of these to filter it -http://www.amazon.com/MSR-56501-AutoFlow-Gravity-Filter/dp/B00187AU... .  A little pricey, but it does the job.

I have run them both for nearly a month, no change.  Hard to see how they both got that bad with shipping, and they were packed very well and got here fast.  But what do I know?

I did see a new MSR filter on ebay and amazon last night.  It is tiny and not the gravity feed one.   Seller says it is a "brand new" MSR product, and has just come out.  I think I saved the link, I'll look, since I meant to ask you all if anyone had tried one yet.   I do like the comments on the MSR Gravity feed though and I don't know if the new one has any type of carbon filter either.  It says it has the  "hollow fiber" filter like the Gravity feed.

OM Gosh, Kirk, that is gorgeous!!!  I haven't been into these lamps long enough to even know what I am looking at, that's why I go through all the pictures on here, but I too love the glitters.   What a killer deal.......lucky man!   I have no idea how I missed that.....LOL   I'd hate to go up against you in bidding!  :-)

I only run mine for 4-8 hours at time. I think some of them can get burnt out over long run times like that (continuously).

Well, back to square Hmmmmmmmm...
