Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I am looking for an American made giant, but I don't have much to spend on it so I'll be limited to looking at thrift shops, ect. I know the giant has the back base, but how can you make sure it's a real american made giant globe and not a grande globe placed on a giant base?

Grande has a metal cap with a sticker, and a Giant has a bigger plastic cap with rubber shrink wrapped on it. Plus you can kinda tell by the look of the wax, china and USA wax have a different look

This is a Giant cap

Another thing I noticed is if u look at the globe from the top, down the sides u can see slight waves in the glass of a Giant. They are hand blown glass

the grande will have silver cap with a sticker on it that has a white background and red/orange letters/numbers.  i doubt you would find a giant base but grande globe in a thrift store, but you never know.  however, i certainly have a grande base and grande globe with a yellow goo kit in my basement!

Ok thanks guys, hopefully I can find one soon!

Are the new grande globes hand blown? The ones i have are remarkably good quality and 2 out of 3 have one swirl, you can also see very slight waves down the side of the bottle if seen from the top on all three and more importantly they dont have a seam down the middle that splits the globe in two halves like the 32 and 52 ouncers...

As far as I know the Giant and the Colossus are the only hand blown globes from LL anyhow.
