Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Found oozinggoo.com when I was looking for ways to repair the Grande I picked up at CostCo a few years ago.  It's one of the Chinese made ones that has gone extremely cloudy and ceased to flow (going to try replacing the fluid one of these weekends).

It was here that I found out about really big Lava lamps.  I was bowled over by videos of the  Colossus lamps and really want to see if I could get one, I couldn't find them available anywhere so I wrote LavaLite.  I wanted to let this group know what I got this from Lava Lite today:

We have a special promo on the Colossus for serious buyers.   This will be the last time the Colossus will be seen.

Please see attached promo sheet with pricing included.

If you are interested please contact on my direct line at 630-496-6663.

Best regards,

Sadly these prices are outside of my discretionary funds, even though they include shipping.  I post it in hopes that someone here may be interested.

Kirk, you can be "Q" in the R&D Department. That would be up your alley. I will be the in-house grammar Nazi.

I think this is a pretty good indicator of things in general at LL. When I win the Powerball lottery I will buy LL and make it what we want it to be.

While they are really cool, I am disappointed that their flyer has at least three distinct and obvious grammatical errors. ;)

Save a spot for me!  Though, can I telecommute?  Not a big fan of Chicago.  ;)

I was thinking I'd move the whole shebang to somewhere warm below the Mason-Dixon Line. Not sure how that will go over with the purists, though.

I just got a reply back from Susan stating they are not going to release the Colossus again

Thank you for your interest in our Colossus lamp.  The special blowout event in 2013 resulted in a complete sell out of all Colossus lamps in inventory.  We are sad to report that we have decided to retire the “Big Boy of Lava” and as a result the Colossus will no longer be available for purchase

That does not surprise me allthough it is a shame, the days of  huge bad ass lamps is over - I very much doubt they will release anything bigger then a grande now.

OG needs to band together and buy LL

. . . . Also I agree that we will probably not see a big lamp from Lava Lite again.....at least until there are new owners....and doubtful then. But new owners will happen someday L.L has changed hands many times.
It's too bad!! If I had known about this I probably would have got one back in the day... Oh well at over 100 pounds it would just not be practical for a home.. A business or club maybe.

I would like to start out by humbly apologizing to those Colossus owners I had previously accused of being unable to operate a dimmer. There seems to be a definite issue with at least one batch (and possibly more) of Colossus lamps wherein it appears the wax separates from the coil, seemingly regardless of color combination.

This is where I ask for your help. I am conducting a very simple poll and eliciting feedback from Colossus owners. Details requested are simple. What is your cap code and does your wax separate from the coil. So far, we have one specific date code that seems to have this issue for red/pink, blue/yellow and purple/yellow. We need more data though.

My Pole

I wish I had a table or a better guide to making one yourself.
anybody?

I'm looking for a colossus if anyone knows of one for sale.  Thanks! CC

What are they selling for now? I have a red one that has never been turned on.
