Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Well, I am going to give this another go. My first few attempts at reproducing these replacement sprays for the Fantasia lamps has been nothing but a nightmare! The process is lengthly and the art at shaping these is.....well....an art. There is no easy way of trimming them and that is where my road block has been from getting them rolled out for sale. That and this obnoxious "Slean coating" that was applied to the fibers during the manufacturing process. Apparently they coat the fibers in this coating to prevent them from "Fanning Out" during the spooling process.....welllll I kinda need them to do exactally that! "Fan Out" so I apparently need to soak the spray first in an alcohol solution to breakdown and remove this coating before I can attempt to trim them. I was doing this step before, I am just letting you all know the involvement of the process. So I contacted the sales rep where I got the fibers and he said that they can do a run of the fiber without this coating (slaps head and sighs) I said are you kidding me! I wish I had known that before hand..lol. Oh well, live and learn and this is surely a learning process.

I do have a new trimming stand that I will be able to work better around so I am hoping that will help. The spray you see soaking in alcohol is the super long 17" spray commonly seen on the Black Sunburst 4000 models....I will keep this updated as to all of the progress and even a short video on trimming these sprays so you can all see just how tedious this process is. I hope to have these for sale soon for those of you interested in purchasing a replacement spray, I apologize for any delays in getting these rolled out! Thank you all for your patience :-)

any word on these yet? can use 3 of them.

Hi. I am very interested in the color wheels and replacement fiber sprays. I sent a friend request. Please contact me. I am also looking for any ideas on replacement motors. Thanks!

Hello. As of right now I can help you out with color wheels and possibly a motor. I will need to know what model these will be going in and also what kind of design you are interested in for the color wheels?

Cool, thanks! I recently bought a Black Sunburst 4000. It seems like it has a motor problem (it hangs up and shakes a bit while running.) So, I would like a motor for it. Also, I need a similar motor for an old Spencer's item I have. It is a mushroom with fibers that stick out of it. The motor is shot and I am wondering if you know where to get a single speed motor that is about the size of a single C battery. We have not dug it out since we moved, but I have been trying to find out where I could search for it. As far as the color wheel...I unfortunately have the wheel with the gear. I LOVE the wheels you make though! I may get another Sunburst (Gold) and it might be older, so I will get with you later on that. Do you make any color wheels for other lamps...Centurion, Galaxy...etc? I am not sure yet if they are all different sizes or what. I thought you might be more familiar. Thanks again for getting back with me. Your work is AMAZING! Please let me know if you start making replacement sprays too.

I have the synchronous replacement motors for the black sunburst. I get $20.00 for those done with paypal. The color wheels on the black model sunburst I do on a refurbishment process as the color wheel is not an individual swapable part and is all in one. So usually people pick out the pattern they want applied and send me in the wheel to be refurbished. With the older model Sunbursts (Chrome & Gold) were built of a much better quality and the parts are more innerchangeable. As far as the smaller lamps and making the color wheels for them. I would and I can but they are very difficult to vhange out. Most people do not wish to tackle the project. As far as the replacement sprays go I do make them but right now I am on pause due to the freezing cold temps here in ny. And my workshop is not heated...Brrrr!

Hello.  I'd like to purchase an 18" replacement spray for my Starburst 4000 once available.  I saw your photos of the process you posted above and can only imagine how challenging these are to make.  I wish you all the best and request you contact me if a spray becomes available.  Thanks.

Will do debbie...It has been freezing here in NY and my workshop is n ot heated so I have not been out there at all doing the fiber optic sprays or replacement color wheels, which I have also had some requests on. I will keep you posted when I resume.

hello, I am also looking to get a new motor for the black Sunburst model and a new colour wheel for chrome Sunburst. I can do paypal transfer. For the colour wheel I would be looking into a wheel with a spiral of colours. Do you have anything like that?
please let me know,

Best regards,

Chris
I just sent you a private message regarding the color wheel and motor. I couldn't figure out how to attach the picture of the color wheel pattern I was talking about that twinkles so I will just attach it here.

Ohh that is an interesting pattern. Like you said, it isn't that colourful! Could you attach a picture of color wheel O? I saw it online on a black Sunburst. Looks good and is more colourful. Do you also have motors for chrome sunburst? Bill me for all three items, one motor for black, one for chrome and one color wheel.I will send you my email details.
Omnasia, I received your details earlier and will send you what I can. Currently I have available the motor for the black sunburst and color wheel, assuming it's going into a Chrome Sunburst. I am currently out of town and do not have access to my patterns. I will tomorrow though. As far as replacement motor for the Chrome Sunburst I can get them but they are pricey and need a small hole drilled into the shaft so that it will work in the lamp.Fantasia used to have these motors manufactured model specific. So the shaft was ready to go. Now as a replacement part the shaft is generic so it needs a small modification. I will get back to you on that one. As for the Color wheel and motor for the black Sunburst I will get you an invoice and an image uploaded of the pattern you requested.
Ok great. It would be awesome if you could upload all the colour wheel designs you have available. I couldn't find pictures of them online.
