Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

What is the verdict on Lava Vortex Glitter lamps?

I dredged up some old threads about the Vortex when they first came out and it sounds like they had a fairly high failure rate though when a good was obtained, most people thought they were pretty cool.  Now that some time has passed, can anyone share any additional insights?  Still like 'me?  Hate 'em?  Did they every work out the reliability issues?  Are currently available ones more reliable?

I'd love to see some photos and videos of one in action.

Anyone?

They are only "OK".  The problem is that it relies on some plasticy device spinning like a dervish in the bottom of the globe.  If the device slips out of place, the Vortex effect goes away.  Stopping and restarting fixes the issue, but it won't run for hours and hours as a vortex.
