Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Thought I would just post these pictures to a thread as you can see them all in one spot this way.

The guy selling all the lamps, Patrick - https://oozinggoo.ning.com/profile/BlackGermanShepherd.

Met Patrick, oddly enough, selling a lava lamp on Craigslist.  He dropped a Benjamin and took home one of Marley Grandes.  Started talking, indicated that he was a massage therapist, and wound up that he was an instructor at the Chicago School of Massage Therapy for a good college buddy of mine.  Small world indeed and we were just bound to become friends.

Great guy with an insane lamp collection.  Happy to say I have added a few to his collection.  Some of his displays have been deconstructed in anticipation of his impending move.  The others... well, they just sort of fit with the rest of the decor.

To start, above the kitchen cabinets.

It is absolutely just like a college apartment Brad.  I think he lived here for like 15 years and the place will be unrecognizable once he pulls everything down.  I can just about guarantee the whole building will be a tear down making way for the next McMansion.  About every third or fourth building has seen a similar fate in that area.  The parcel of land is worth an absolute fortune.

jim - thanks for the photos!  this place seems really chill.  it reminds me of a friend's apartment in college, minus the lamps.  i can appreciate the eclectic nature of the decorations.

I may be interested in a Colossus, depending on color, price and location.

I know it's in the Chicago area, but I'd like a more accurate address so I could

plot a trip on the internet.  20 years ago I drove from Iowa to Crystal Lake (east

side of Chicago) to buy a pinball machine.

I was not prepared for the multiple toll booths (had no change) and driving

in that mess was allot different from small town Iowa roads.  I did it in a day

but it was a little stressful, GPS would have been nice !

Most, if not all, of the lamps in this thread will be staying with Patrick most likely.  He will be forced to explain himself if he even considers it.    The empty Colossus - I helped empty it thus I am calling dibs!  Pretty sure he is keeping that one too though.

that is sad.  the same thing is happening here in mid missouri.  lots of old structures are being demolished in favor of modern student housing.
