Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Has anyone tried putting a 16in lava lite in a 17in base before?

It seems to fit okay and I like it because it shows more of the globe off.

But could this be a danger to to globe at all in terms of heat management, or cause the globe to crack at all?

They use the same bulb, 40w. If anything the lamp would run cooler since more glass is exposed. Just be aware of the bulb touches the glove which I doubt it would. Causing a crack I highly doubt.
