Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have a white wax clear liquid lamp and the wax is a little more transluscent than what I'd like it to appear as. I purchased some white candle wax dye. Would adding that to the molten wax being heated over the coil with no liquid in it do the trick? Or would that just fudge stuff up?

I tried to melt candle making dye into a baby crap colored vintage and all I got was a poop green blob with chunks of unmelted blue wax dye sitting in the bottom. It ruined the flow too, and I had to do a re-pour on it to save the lamp. Sooooo.....I'm not saying that it won't work......I'm just saying that it did not work for me.
