Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Ok my lava lamp was warming up happily its been working fine the last 3 or 4 times I've ran it after I left it on for 4 hours to get the wax round the heating element properly but now I turned it on and I look at it like an hour later and its in a wierd uneven lump at the bottom and this other wierd lump has floated to the top. Its not even blob like!

any suggestions for what to do?

That doesn't look particularly unusual for a warming lamp, and depending on the room temperature, it could take more than an hour to completely melt the wax. Is the lamp still misbehaving?
No it started working fine after about 2 hours of running. Although like usual (its turning into a habit of my lava lamp) a blob of wax settled at the top of the lava lamp nad didnt come down despite my best efforts
