I'm on the fence about buying another Astro and was trying to find some feedback about the Violet / Turquoise color combination.
I found some videos and pictures of it. but most of the ones that I saw looks pretty dark and the wax seems dim especially at the top of the bottle.
So I'm wondering how does it really look first hand and compared to other colorways like Violet / Orange (that I have). would you recommend buying it?

I have a small lamp that acts as a back light behind my lamps but it lights up the room too much at night so I don't turn it on most of the time. I prefer a colorway that looks good with and without a back lighting.
Just want to hear from those who has the V/T colorway and what do they think about it.

I love the violet/turquoise, but it’s not great when viewing with the lights off. It’s markedly dim and low contrast at the top. Definitely a daytime or backlight colorway.
Gotcha, its not for me then...
A bit of a shame because the Neo bottle of the violet/turquoise seems much brighter, well at least in the photos...

Was in a similar dilemma a year or so ago, ended up buying one - it’s quite nice actually, I’m happy with mine.
Maybe there are variations between batches, but mine really isn’t that dark, certainly more rich and vibrant than the Blue/ Blue colour way -
The images on the Mathmos website seem to make it look way darker than it is…
Its been a while but eventually I got both blue / green and violet / turquoise.
Had some issues with wax sticking to the bottom in the V/T and they sent me a replacement bottle.
So if someone else has the violet / turquoise dilemma then in my opinion its actually very nice and I'm happy I got it.
although it looks more like blue and less like turquoise, the glow that the lamp cast on the wall is definitely turquoise though...
I wouldn't call it dark but its not very bright either. I think its similar in brightness to the blue green colorway and actually looks totally different if its by itself in the dark or among other lamps.
Its hard to capture the real colors but here are some pics I took:
The modern mathmos turquoise is blue, the older turquoise is lighter in colour. They changed the wax.
In that case they should change the colorway name to violet / blue.

So does that means that the wax yellowing and change to turquoise is not a flaw and is actually by design? or that mathmos chose the turquoise name because of the eventual yellowing...? ;-)

On a side note. When new all mattmos turquoise appears light blue, but this wax also suffers from yellowing meaning eventually it will turn greener. Hence turquoise and not blue. The Neo Bottles retain their blue much longer as they don't get as hot. Mine are still as fresh blue as they day I got them.
