Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

On the left is a glitter lamp I won on eBay sold by Bohdan. I was a noob to collecting and didn't know this had been repainted and refilled (nor did he note that in the auction). I would like to remove the paint, as the plastic underneath is a neat teal color. Would also like to refill with clear liquid and silver glitter. On the left is the lamp I acquired from Autumn. I much prefer the original look!

try soaking the base and top in lukewarm water for a few hours, and the paint may rub right off.
It depends on the type of paint used - if it was waterbased then that would probabley work but I think its solvent based so some solvent based paint remover would have to be used to remove it.

He did a great job on the paint, I admit. Would have just preferred this be original since it's such a cool color underneath. Oh, and I won't be dumping the liquid - I have an empty 32oz. globe that I want to put this into for an orange Wizard. ;) Thanks for the idea on the soaking...wouldn't have even thought of that!

...oh, and if you DO refill, please save Bohdan's fill for me? I love it.

Erin, if the plastic cover cap comes off (most of these do), and if you can pop off the bottom cover with the cord & socket and remove the bottle from the base, try soaking the base and top in lukewarm water for a few hours, and the paint may rub right off.

I can't even count how many lamps Bohdan painted with that same exact color of metallic paint. On many, it looked cool, but in this case, teal is a rare color for these.
