- About Your First Lava Lamp:
- Here's the story.....In the early 70's, my grandma had a lava lamp that was cylindrical with a square wooden base. Sometimes when I'd visit, she'd turn it on and we'd wait and wait for what seemed an eternity for the lava to start moving around. Eventually she gave me the lamp. One day I discovered it sitting on the floor of our backyard storage shed and the top cap of the lamp was broken off and missing. That was the last I saw of it. Years later, thanks to eBay, I won what I thought was the same model my grandma had, but when I unpacked it, it seemed smaller than I remembered. Could it be that when you're a kid things just seem bigger than when you're an adult? That was my initial thought anyway.......Until after some research of the vintage lava models, I made the realization that my grandma actually owned a REGENCY model and the one I won on eBay was the smaller Consort model. So technically you could say my first lava was a Regency. I hope to add that model to my collection.
