Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

A: When it started life as a Midnight! Black base and cap were primed and given several coats of metallic copper paint then sealed with clear gloss enamel. The lava is a goo kit experiment mixing different amounts of yellow with red dye to replicate the 'Sun gold' color lava of an Aztec. Of course real Aztecs had more of a brownish-bronze color base, but this metallic copper is my current favorite color and I have 2 more customs on the way in this color.

It may not be perfectly Aztec, but it's beautiful! Way to mod that thing! :p

I don't usually sand but I prefer using the primer for better paint adherence.

That looks amazing! Well done. Can I ask why you prime? I haven't primed any of the lamp bases I've painted and so far, no issues. Also, do you sand the base at all?

Seriously, great job!
