Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

All the posts I have seen on this are over ten years old. I have a grande Lava lamp, which takes 100w reflector bulbs. I thought that these were banned now, but googling it results in a mass of confusion and contradiction. I have got some, which I presume are chinese knock-offs, which would account for them lasting only a few weeks and breaking almost every time I remove them. People on here must have up to date information, are they still made by proper lamp manufacturers? What are people using instead? I thought of using a power led with a separate heater, and saw something from ten years ago proposing some new type of hybrid bulb, but again the trail went dead. What is going on? Any information appreciated. P. S. I am in the UK.
