Broken globe on torchiere floor lamp! Please help me find a suitable replacement!

Greetings everyone!  (This is my first post)

I have a torchiere floor lamp that I got from Walmart a few years ago and absolutely love it.  It's the same model as this one:

I'll spare you the story of how it happened, but the top of my globe is now broken and I need to find a replacement.  It doesn't have to be the same model or even functional (I can gookit it), just as long as it fits.  I also don't mind if the replacement globe flares out on the sides, as long as it sits securely in the socket.  Fitting into the decorative plastic top cone would be a plus, but is not essential.  One more important note: it's not shown in the pictures, but there is a metal arm that holds up the top portion of the lamp, so the globe is not structural to the torchiere.

Here are the measurements of the original globe:

-Width of base:  2 and 7/8 inches / 7.3 cm

-Depth of the lamp "socket" that holds it above the bulb: 5/8 inches / 1.5 cm

-Height of globe (including beer bottle-style cap, but not the outer metal cap or decorative cone): 10.5 inches / 26.7 cm

Any ideas?  Is there another, more common model of lava lamp with a globe that would be compatible?

Would a wine bottle work?  It seems to be a fairly common bottle diameter and I've found a couple that might fit, but they would have less capacity than the original and I'm not sure if they're up to the temperature stress.

Okay. It works. ty, ty, ty. Now I need to fix the pole, make it stronger will try and post pics of it later. ty again

not yet but it is just what I needed to get that part done. Ty. the pole is a bit wobbly like to get spare parts or figger out how to just replace it with some other pole. Guess some drunk fell on it before I got it. ; (

I don't think there was a manual...there might have been a 1 page sheet that had a pic illustrating how to install the globe and the reflector part on top but that was it.

Is the pole loose at the base?  OR is it wobbling at the joint about midway between the base and the bottom of the lava globe?  If its loose at the base there should be a nut that can be tightened up from the bottom, if its loose at the joint make sure its locked in...ard to describe but basically the pole will only go all the way together when aligned a certain way, then the two halves are twisted part way to lock them together. 

If the whole thing is wobbly it might just be the way it is....mine isn't exactly rock solid...it will lean to and fro and topple easily...especially on carpeting.  In fact at one time I had to have a shim under one edge of the base to keep it from leaning really hard to one side and possibly tipping over.  

As far as getting parts...probably not going to happen unless it was a standard thing that you could get at a h/w store.  These have to be at least 8 or 10 yrs old ,and they were not even sold all that long.  Never saw anything like it ever again either, sadly.

It is mostly the joint under the lava lamp part. It kinda pops out to lean and wobble sickly looking. May just try and rebuild the whole pole and stand. I will try on-line for these lamps, for parts and if lucky end up with its mate. Thak you all. Nice fast replies, with smart info, and, no trolls.

Hey guys I am facing a similar problem with the exact same lamp, but I need some instructions on how to separate the globe from the metal arm base.  I began loosening the the two threaded ends of the shaft but stopped because I saw air bubbles start to flow into the liquid as if the cap were leaking.  Is it capped on top or bottom of the bottle (facing the floor or lamp part) Does anyone have any parts or know anyone selling one? My GF broke it Sunday after church and know we both feel horrible as it was my favorite lamp. Thanks guys!

Sorry to hear about the breakage.  Its capped on top (the lamp side).  All you do to remove the globe is carefully pry up on the arm that holds the torchiere part up just enough to take the black plastic cap off the globe.  Then there will be enough clearance to lift the globe out at a 45 degree angle.  Is the globe cracked?  The air bubbles are either from a crack, or they could have simply been trapped under the wax and just rose to the surface when you were moving the lamp trying to get the globe out.  Any liquid anywhere?

No sign of leaks, thus far, but at the very minimum I'm sure I'll need at least a replacement bulb. Any ideas on finding parts? I know this was a short lived production about 10 yrs old so...thanks for your response!
