I have been using a screw clamp to seal the caps back on some globes I have been working on but am considering the purchase of a capper from Amazon.
Bottle Capper Set with 55 Caps Included by Perrysbrewer
Does anyone have experience with a tool like this and if yes, any recommendations or warnings?
Later I will post summary of a purple wax / clear liquid globe that I tuned up in an effort to contribute to all of the great information that I have been reading here. Really appreciate all of the past discussions - lots of great material!! Without this site there is no way that I could have started working on these lamps with any sense of true understanding so thanks again to all you long timers.

I bought one of those and they do not work for lava lamps
Only for long neck bottles
Buy the vertical table mounted one form a micro brewery supplier or ebay
Get one like this
Same as I have'

they are not too expensive =especially if you watch the auctions
Noting else works ell enough
Hose clamps just don't do the job as well=-especially if you ever recap a glitter
This is exactly what your looking for:
check for the bottle cap that comes with a rubber seal inside, makes it clean and final.
Can reccap every size up to 52 0z globe.
I use a hammer capper with a rubber mallet . I've capped a shit ton of globes never had a issue and its small enough to fit in a drawer rather take up counter space.

Definitely very useful! I've had mine for 10+ years still works like a charm.
Are you guys putting the original caps back on or using new caps every time?
Curious because we all know how important the cap can be
Worked 12 hours yesterday and did not get a chance to order a capper but wanted to say thanks again for all of the feedback!!!
I use new caps. I never had luck getting a good seal using the old bottle caps.
Thanks again for all of the input - ended up ordering the press and some rubber sealed caps.
Hopefully I can have some sharp lamps to share here soon!
Thanks again all - I ended up going with the capper that Flip recommended. I could only find the mallet capper from the UK and for $20 the model below works really nice. Well worth the money IMO.
