Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Got this 32oz Lava-Simplex globe the other day, just the globe. It's labeled as a model 300 Carlisle from 1975 but the cap is silver. Doesn't look like it was once gold but faded, and the paint looks factory. Also the top has a plastic plug in it, something I've never seen on old Simplex globes. Is this a later Lava-Haggerty product and someone just mixed up the caps? Or did they actually make silver Carlisles?

Most likely someone painted a Carlisle cap silver at some point.  Looks like a pretty good bottle though, and they did use those plugs for a time however.  I don't recall ever seeing a "Silver Carlisle" though that would have been easy enough since they start out as spun aluminum (which is silver) and are then sprayed with a gold/brass tinted coating.  Just skip the gold/brass coat and viola!  Silver!

I've never seen a model sticker with the model name!

It's been a while but I bought a silver Wizard base for this bottle out of spite and boredom, here it is flowing alongside my blue Wizard. Good flow!
