Hi All,
Was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the best method for cleaning out bottles prior to refilling with glitter or wax and fluid? Is washing up liquid and hot water followed by rinsing with cold water the best solution?

Honestly, I've had really good results simply rinsing vigorously with warm soapy water. After, I use a brush (or something) that I made using a long wooden dowell rod and a strip of folded paper towel that I wrapped around the end, and bound it tightly with a rubber band. it worked great for getting the stubborn bits out.
I hear you can use gas in the bottle afterwards to remove anything wax burned to the glober which i am going to do eventually. (dont light it)
I just got done cleaning out a stubborn wine bottle I'm wanting to use.
I rinsed it with soapy water the first time... wax stuck... badly.
So this time I soaked it in gasoline for a day. Then scrubbed it with Drain-O with a rod and a sponge. The rinsed it with soapy water several times. Then scrubbed it with BonAmi... then rinsed it again.
I JUST put the wax in it a few minutes ago. After it's cool enough I'll add my water and see how the cleaning went (looked pretty good... but the wax WILL find any bad spots I missed).
I'll follow up in a few minutes.
Brakleen has been my solvent of choice for this. Provides for a nice buzz too.
If it sticks try Cillit bang.. Seriously i've had better results with that than with gasoline and other chemicals !
Yeah, still crap. Sticking all over the place still.
I'll give that Cillit Bang a shot when I run across some (It's called EasyOff-BAM! around here... remember the BAM part, regular EasyOff is just over cleaner).
Arh yes thats correct.. When i tried this i mixed it with many things.. Universal Cleaning, Window Cleaning and some other stuff.. I just mixed it all in and shook it like a mad man for a few minuttes and let i just let it sit in the corner for another hour.. that did the trick for me.. Im crossing my fingers for you !
So, is Cillit Bang is still the best (easy) way to clean a bottle from wax ?
Boiling hot water and soap, its easy and cheap. No need for chemicals. I also use bottle brushes which you can find on any beer brewing website.

That's what I've done so far (except bottle brush, not easy in a jet bottle!)
But after reading some have issues with wax sticking on sides, I prefer to be safe and make the bottle as good as new before refilling it.
Actually these bottle brushes are made to fit into a beer bottle style hole so it will fit a jet no problem.
