Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Found oozinggoo.com when I was looking for ways to repair the Grande I picked up at CostCo a few years ago.  It's one of the Chinese made ones that has gone extremely cloudy and ceased to flow (going to try replacing the fluid one of these weekends).

It was here that I found out about really big Lava lamps.  I was bowled over by videos of the  Colossus lamps and really want to see if I could get one, I couldn't find them available anywhere so I wrote LavaLite.  I wanted to let this group know what I got this from Lava Lite today:

We have a special promo on the Colossus for serious buyers.   This will be the last time the Colossus will be seen.

Please see attached promo sheet with pricing included.

If you are interested please contact on my direct line at 630-496-6663.

Sadly these prices are outside of my discretionary funds, even though they include shipping.  I post it in hopes that someone here may be interested.

Going on 11pm cst and the lava is a chunky pile  with no signs of melting or flowing and the lamp is turned up 100%

Going to leave it on over night and see what develops by 7am cst

sigh,,i bragged too quick! My clear/red went into hover mode today. About half of the coil was showing clean at the bottom.

Razerface is the first one I've heard to have a problem with a clear/red. Damn. I guess it's inevitable, though. I don't think the dye has this much of an impact on the lamps' performance...especially since we all seem to have the same dates and batches.

My lamp has had 3 amazing runs and 1 bad one so far. Maybe they all can have a bad day once in a while...? It honestly sounds like some people are having much worse issues though. :( I hope they clear up for everybody!!

it is a big issue, my thermostat goes down to 60' fron 69' overnight and I left my lamp at 70% and it went all to the bottom. before hand it was flowing real good, so yes you are 100% RIGHT lalalava.

I had issues with my clear red, but then got uber patient and turned it down till it stopped flowing but was warm the started turning it up millimeter by millimeter till it flowed then marked it and left it there, it technically runs a bit too cool at night but also gets a little hot if the apartment does. it also has times when it looks like it is running too hot but really isn't then goes back to normal

i let the red cool for 20 minutes,,,hit it again and it is running perfectly again  for the last couple hours.

Yay! When I had coil issues, I should have waited longer to turn it back on. I might have been able to salvage that run if I had, possibly,

I waited about 30 hours, and I started out at 60%. It took about 12 hours to start flowing, but once it did, it was beautiful. SInce then I start it about 70-75%, and turn it down a little as I need to.

Mine shipped today!

so let me get this right everybody got a phillips heat light bulb 250 watts?? instead of the old reflector flood 200 watt

Matt- that is correct since the 200W bulbs are not considered "commercially" available any longer
