Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Here you go folks. A pair of ultra rare Empress lava lamps. These are only the 3rd and 4th Empress lamps I've seen in the last 11 years.

I see somebody tried to scoop them for $75. Can't blame him for trying. Thankfully, the seller is smarter than that!

Interestingly, all the Empress lamps I've ever seen have wooden caps on the globes, despite the fact that early Lava ads show tham with metal tops. Odd.

I tried! And so did Kempton. Hey, it never hurts to ask!

Well thats the first Empress lamps I have seen on Ebay, they look like they need some work done on them - wood and bases probley need tyding up and stuff and the globe may need redoing but thats not realy a issue considering there Empress's.
I saw those.  They would be nice to have, but I know they will go beyond my budget.  Hope the get the TLC they need.
LOL@$75 BIN - I would have tried similar, but would have offered far more (at least double).  I wouldn't be surprised to see this pair hit $500.

The two screws on each lamp's back went into a special wall bracket. I just wound some thick, bendable wire around each, and hung said wire on a strong nail.

These deserve a good restoration. Polish up the wood (back board, and OUTSIDE of caps only!) with teak oil or mineral oil, reglue the reflective panel behind one (it's patterned silver foil over white plastic), and gookit or refill (proper colors for these are dark red/clear, orange/yellow which is what these used to be, or mint green/medium blue). These take a 30-watt R-20 bulb, no idea why someone put red and blue ones in. Whoever gets 'em, congrats!

Holy cow is all I can say on this one.  Knew the price would get jacked, but $600?  The dude selling the pair is probably still doing backflips in anticipation of his windfall.
lol these always go for a good chunk of change no surprise there. I definitely LOL'd when someone offered the guy $75 for it.
Never hurts to try. It was totally me.

ahaha well it was a noble try Erin :) But you know there's always a little birdie around that will fill clueless sellers in on what they are selling. And it sounds like someone got to the seller. I do recall reading a big thread discussion about a local seller on CL, selling a Imperial and the squealer got to him.
I will always try. I don't mind the seller being clued in, actually. I know some people do. I don't. All is fair in love and lava. :)

Not as pretty as the rare Crestworth Sconce but nice all the same. Need some restoration.

Anyone want to make a guess on what the pair of Sconces will go for? These are wooden tops, which I would think is a much harder lamp to find.

I'm guessing $1100 for both.
