Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hello all! Newbie member here. I have a fantasia 2001 galaxy lamp I acquired with a broken light bulb. Does anyone know what size bulb I am supposed to be using for this model? Don't want to get one that burns too hot. Also, I have a Fantasia 1001 love bug lamp with a good bulb but seems rather dim. Anyone know what size bulb is best for the 1001? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The Fantasia Galaxy, Love Bug, Alpha, and Tempo all use the same type of bulb.

A friend of mine recently sent me a LED bulb to try and I love it!!

I think LED bulbs are far superior because -

1 -  They are brighter - more Lumens

2-   They do not get as hot - less prolonged damage to parts/color wheel

3-  They emit a white light instead of yellow which makes the colors much more vibrant looking

4-  They use less electricity

I only have one  LED bulb currently but I recently purchased several more and i am waiting for them to arrive.

Once they do i will be posting before/after images of what my small Fantasia lamps look like using them.

I agree that there are some models like the Alpha, Tempo, Love Bug that do not get very bright with the original bulb.

Wait till you see them with a LED bulb - I think you will be impressed by the difference like I was!

They make smaller lamps so much brighter/better!

Here is the LED bulb I am talking about -

There are other Fantasia  models that I think could use this bulb as well however due to it's length it will only fit in models that have a horizontal bulb position instead of vertical.

Wow I love it! I will definitely be trying some of those LED bulbs. That seems to be the way to go these days, and I'm sure my color wheel will be thanking me.  Thanks a ton, MileHigh.

I love the LED

I put one in a broken Crestworth galaxy and it is absolutely amazing how much brighter it is

The one I used is not for the purist collector as it completely eliminates the entire assembly with the color wheel and changes color by remote control..

Not sure how important this feature is to you, but finding a LED color change lamp with a memory so it retains the setting when remotly powered off is the difficult thing to find.

Spot on, Claude - I use them for several Crestworths over here, and they have transformed the lamps' performance...

The original Crestworth motors were nowhere near as robust as their Fantasia counterparts

When you find the right bulb, it's a good idea to buy plenty, because the manufacturers are quite capable of down-specing
