Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hey,

I tried making my first lamp, I used the "Retro Basic Formula" listed on oozinggoo.com

It was a bust, the wax just stayed at the top of the bottle, I followed all directions to the letter and heated it for about 4 hours, the wax never melted and it just floated at the top :(

I saw a video on youtube using a formula of wax, 91% alcohol, 70& alcohol and oil pastels for color.

Has anyone used this formula and if so how is it?? Please check attached pics!!Any help on this will be appreciated.

Either your wax is too light or your liquid is too heavy. I never made a lamp using the formula you used but I can tell you got the gravity wrong. If you used salt to change the gravity of the liquid you used too much.
I am attempting my first lamp right now as well (all tho i'm doing mine a little different), my problem is when I put my wax into the water it all went to the top so I just let it dry and went to work (which is where I am now.) When I get home I am going to try to add a little epson salt to the mix and prey to the lava god that it sinks.
