Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have a Haggerty lamp whose base no longer works. I'd hate to throw it out and try to replace it since bases are coming as hard to find as the lamps themselves. Is there any way to do a simple troubleshooting + repair on it that won't electrocute me to death lol.

75% of the time, the problem lies in the center tab of the socket

It gets pushed down over time and use.

UNPLUG the lamp
Take a pick or small screwdriver and pry the center tab upwards.
crew in the light bulb, plug it in, and try the switch

Claude, incredible as always. Worked like a charm. Thank you very much!

Glad to help
