Fixing Frenchie (my vintage glitter lamp from France)

I got my first vintage French glitter lamp a week or so ago. It's nice, but a little dinged up. Though I have a plug converter for it, I'd like to rewire it for the US. I took it to a lamp repairman here and he thought I could use US bulbs on it even though it's wired for France. He took the bulb out of the glitter lamp, put it in a US lamp and it worked. However, I have tried several US bulbs and none of them will turn on in this lamp.

LampHead and Jim tell me it would be easy to rewire this lamp. I am not so confident. So, here's the pics of it...help!

Yeah, order a bunch of the bulbs.

Model SO10014-500 is a perfect socket that won't need an adapter, very short and narrow, should fit in most any base as long as the socket attaches to a threaded pipe in the bottom.
Ooooh, I like!
Frenchie is fixed! Replaced the cord and socket tonight. Super easy. Less than 5 mins. Thank you SO MUCH to all who helped me out with this. I couldn't have done it without you! :)

Beautiful! Very, very sparkly and colorful! You might use your other oval one to top this up a bit, if you decide to use it for refilling and do lava or another kind of glitter in it.
That looks lovely, well done :)
that looks great! and it is so satisfying to fix something isn't it?
those french glitter lamps are sweet. I have what i think is an old french lava lamp and the design is really cool although totally different to this.
I'd really like a lava in this kind of design, but it would have to be a vintage.
good job!
I have been using the oval one to top it off. I'm so afraid to mess it up since the liquids smell different.

Jonas, I emailed you awhile back - do you want the cord and socket from this lamp? I have it and was saving since you said you might be interested. Let me know and I'll send it to you.
Thanks! I love this lamp.
Yes, very satisfying! I think I might lava my other, half-empty one.
that would look so sweet! you should definately do that
I'm just wondering what kind of coil situation would be needed. The base of the French lamp is a different shape. I might need two coils down there.
Get a big round coil and hold a lighter at the sides of it and it will get hot enough to bend permanently in just a second or two. You can do that and make it an oval shape.
