I just checked my lamps out and three are on the left and two on the right. No biggie or manufactures defect. These lamps are freaky when they run. They are super loaded with glitter panels that when lit look like a bunch of insects in a jar moving about. Simply brilliant effect.
Thanks for the info!
I love these! There were several variants. Two sizes of glitter. Some had folded tabs holding the metal top & bottom together. Others used spot-welded seams, which can come apart with age. I wish I knew more.
I originally believed this and the oval Continental must have been just someone bringing in the bottles (which were produced as liquor bottles) or looking at them in the catalog of whichever company made Lava's globes and going, "Hey, check THESE out! Wouldn't they make wild lamps?" but I now know the French made lamps exactly like these first, and Lava must have copied those.
