Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hello All!

I just picked this up locally and the bottom of the lamp felt says "1995". I was wondering if this considered an Aristocrat and if there is any history on the gold color ones? I have a couple midnight aristocrats. Thanks!

Yes, this is an Aristocrat. Lava Lite made this specific style from the late 1960s right up until they stopped US manufacturing in 2003. Looks to be in great shape. Be sure to post some pics once its fully flowing!

Thanks Alex! It really is in good shape! I'll post some pics for sure.

It's been going for a few hours but not really moving. Either it's not getting hot enough or the wax is dead?

Looks like it's not hot enough.    If it was overheating all the wax would be completely melted and usuallys hovering on the bottom.  The wax in your lamp is still solidified. Too cold.

That picture was when I was warming up. You are right it was melted and hovering at the bottom. I turned it off and let it cool. Do I need to use a dimmer? I guess the cause might be it's a relatively old lamp?
