Grande globes wanted

Interested in purchasing 2 or 3 empty Grande globes.  I have some project ideas in mind but don't want to sacrifice my current globes!

So here's the thing, Lava Lamp has said they will never bring the Colossus back to market.  Will they change their mind?  Not too easily I think.  They have focused their sales on cheap, easy, and toss when tired of it.  The Colossus cannot be any of those things, and is not easy to dispose of stock when you're talking about $1000 novelty lamps.

Also, I think you really miss the mark when you say "i know that collectors don't want them to make them anymore because of the money".  Most people here who have one wants more.  They hold on to them because #1 they LIKE them and #2 they are RARE and almost impossible to replace, not because they are greedy and holding out for more dough if they sell them.  And it's insulting to make those accusations.

Keith is right. They are unfortunately of a previous era. The current owners of Lava have even come out and said we'll never even see another batch of resin lamps due to production costs. It all comes down to dollars and cents. A lot of the last cool lamps (resins, colossus, etc.) were holdovers from the final Haggerty years that ultimately were phased out. The current company, unfortunately knows it's market and that market calls for painted globes and shrink-wrapped bases. Whatever it'll take to get them into box stores. Do as little as possible to the existing shape, I.e. wrap bases, add plastic spiders etc. and call it a day. They've had a couple recent winners like the 50th Grande, but they have been far and few between. Finally, as a collector of many years I too take offense to that sentiment. I collect for a love of the product, its history and the innovation Lava enjoyed throughout the last 50 years. We are here to share photos, trade, buy and sell sure. But I don't believe anyone is here to make a profit.

The market has been great for buying. I can still recall a time when an icon lamp went for $300+ all day long on ebay. The biggest thrill for me is finding a bargain, my local flea markets open next week and I can't wait to get out there again. The winter months are never as fun when you have to rely solely on thrift stores and ebay.

Not trying to get off the topic here but I just have to say this. The boxes that the lamps come in say "An American Icon" BUT made in China! This just drives me nuts! LOL

Who was the distributor you bought out? Starmagic? I think they have giants on their site but I never ordered from them. Their website hasn't changed in over 15 years and looks questionable lol

this is blake again i know that you think i am crazy about what i said the other day but i am serious lets start a petition and get these things back on the shelf or at least start calling them if nothing else we need to talk them into making them as a custom item like i order one i would need a certain percentage down then they would make one the company i work for does this we don't make anything someone orders something we make $10,000 fireplaces so i know hat it can be done please help because i would like to bu one
