Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I am now the proud owner of a $116 French Glitter...that is busted

As soon as I could smell the package, I knew it was doomed.

Glitter is half clear (eaten away by the liquid) and half the fluid is now missing. The liquid was VERY toxic smelling (I took it outside immediately) and the inner package was SOAKED.

So, yay for me. I have another crappy lamp.

bummer!
Bummer indeed. If only it didn't cost me so much...

I wonder if I can file a claim through USPS.
i dont see why you wouldnt be able to. did you purchase it from ebay?
Unfortunately, I purchased this outside of eBay. Probably my mistake for doing that. I don't really think it's the seller's fault. Not sure really.
hmm.. hopefully usps reimburses you. sorry to see such a nice lamp arrive like that
I *think* this was a result of the cap not being on tight enough. There is no broken glass. Sadly, I think this is the fault of the seller.

The glitter is mostly shot anyway.

Does anyone know if I can top off this glitter of mine:

With the glitter from this now half-empty lamp?
Good advice, thanks!
I know how you feel .. had the same problem but fortunately went through ebay and paypal and was refunded 100% .. virtual hug :)
Thanks for the tip. I am very hesitant to mix the two as I don't want another ruined lamp. :(
I shouldn't have done this outside of eBay. Lesson learned.
When I first got this same model glitter, half the fluid was gone due to evaporation over time (quite common with older glitters). What I did was I dumped the remaining fluid and started fresh. After cleaning out the bottle thoroughly, I poured in the glitter fluid from a Fantasia glitter I had, which is the fast moving, Perchloroethylene type I love. I have also refilled another French glitter I have with pink glitter fluid from a Wizard glitter, so I believe your lamp can be restored to its former glory as well. For me, part of the fun of getting a vintage lamp like this, is the challenges of the restoration process. Good luck.
Thanks for the tips. I appreciate it. It will *have* to be restored as there's no way running it half empty will be any fun to look at. ;)
