Crestworth lantern, worth a pretty penny!
Nice find :)
Thanks for the reply.
Would you know roughly how old it is?
also the light works but the lava just stays solid, how long would it usually take to start melting/moving? Sorry don't know the technical terms for it.
if I wanted to replace the bottle would that be possible?
thanks
Darren
The lava can take 1-2 hrs to start moving. I’ve never had a crestworth so I can’t say for certain.
as far as I know, the Astro bottles will fit (look under “spares and repairs” on the Mathmos website). Don’t chuck the old bottle though.
It may be worth getting a new bulb too incase that’s what’s causing the issue. I’m sure someone with more experience with the lanterns will be able to give you better advice
Hi Guys,
Thanks for your help, I’ve had it on now for 4-5 hours on a few occasions and no movement.
I will take a look at replacement bulb and bottle but will try the bulb first.
im not sure if I’m going to keep the lamp, what do you think this is worth?
many thanks
Darren
I'm interested if your considering selling it.

Hi Darren,
There are some for sale (under "Crestworth") on eBay UK now, to give you an idea of price
The lamp looks to be flowing OK to me...
Thats the first thing i noticed, but they said it doesnt flow, and they found 1 of these, so i think that photo is from google.

If you do replace the bottle you lose half the value of your lamp from the get go and most serious collectors may not want to buy at all. My suggestion - Purchase another lamp with the same liquid and wax and do a goo and liquid swap so your keeping original glob and LavaLite original formula. The caps on these lamps can easily be opened gently using a bottle opener and a capper and to reseal original bottle cap to globe use a bottle capper - they run 8.00. Then you have all original once again. As is expect the lamp to sale for 175.00 plus depending on the day and 25.00 to ship in the good ole' USA.
