Looking for one of two specific forms of 70s rain lamp by Creators Lamp Co.of Chicago. Both styles have only ONE row of nylon lines, NOT the larger-diameter types that have an outer vertical row and an inner slanted row.
One of them is plastic, approximately 22" x 7", with a single support post in the middle. It has one row of slanted nylon lines and a light bulb that's recessed off-center in the top. Came in table or hanging model. See attached, bronze table model w/ Old Mill figure. Came in bronze, brown bronze, white or antiqued white/gold with Three Graces, Diana, Venus, Children with Umbrella, Old Mill, etc.. There are also single-post models with a domed "umbrella" top and cylindrical base, with vertical nylon lines.
Other is similar but metal, approximately 27" tall, with three support posts and one row of vertical nylon lines. Came in table or hanging. See attached shots of hanging model in brown bronze w/ Don Juan/Musketeer figure, and red/gold w/ Chinese lady. Came in antique red or green or gold with verdigris trim w/ Chinese lady, gold, bronze, brown bronze or antique white/gold w/ Diana or Venus, brown bronze with Don Juan, etc. Some had tulip-shaped or rope-shaped trim on the base and top, some had none.
Interested as long as the body/posts/etc. are in OK shape, they're not gunked up with cruddy old oil, and the pump runs quietly. Looking for any of these types, in any finish, figurine, etc., OK if they're missing the plastic plants and even if they're missing the figurine or the nylon lines need replacing! Please tell me what you're asking for it.
Thanks!
~ Jonas

Update: Pulled the one I have of the 2nd type out of storage. I bought it at age 15 (I'm now 33), it had a Venus figure and an antiqued white finish but was dirty. I cleaned out the gunk, kind of, restrung it (all those lines are one long piece, y'know!) and rattle-canned it gold. I also painted the 'clothing' on the statue gold. I replaced the missing lava rock with pebbles. Eventually it started flaking and, for reasons I forget, got put in a shed. That was at least ten years ago.
I pulled it out yesterday. To call it disgusting is an understatement. Most people would call it garbage. The gold is flaking off, and the metal has loads of surface rust. The basin was full of congealed orange glop. The statue's original enamel is chipping off, that part is toast. I have no idea if the pump functions any more, though I hope it does. The strings are covered in linty fuzz. I took a 'before' photo. Plan is to remove all electricals and the nylon strings, then dunk it in some really good paint stripper and get it down to base metal, then sand and refinish. Going to maybe do a nice Mandarin red and gold. It has widely-spaced vertical strings and I may not put any statue in it at all.
