Bought a grande red clear from spencers online well the first one was so cloudy you could not see the wax at all. I ran that one for two weeks thinking it may clear up some nope so called spencers customer service line they sent anouther one out and guess what same thing. This time I called lava light talked to a very nice person she said they will get me anouther one out they would make sure it was good they sent it 2 day shipping got it by fedex today it was a slight bit cloudy but i have ran it now for8 hours and it looks like it is clearing up. It looks like lava lamp cares about the customer but I think the big problem is shipping in these hot days. I have a blue/ yellow grande that was shipped but it was from my own state and took only 1 day and its nice and clear.

I don't know if this is common with the red. My red grande was really cloudy too. I bought a water filter and filtered it 4 times...looked good after filtering, but soon turned cloudy. I have cycled it and let it sit for a couple months...still cloudy.
My option is to dump it out and goo kit it...problem will be solved for sure them.
Mine too, it did the same thing. Its just the red dye bleeding out of the wax which is pretty common for red waxed lamps.
Hey CrashSunday check ur messages here and on ebay sir :)
Yep! same here bought it about 3 years ago from costco, well worth the $40 either way. Still flows great too just slightly cloudy which tends to get a little better when running.

I've had a few lamps that I run on a timer, on for 2 hours, off for 2 hours for a couple months - and they always clear up.
Does this work for grandes? I'm thinking grandes wouldn't be flowing within 2 hours.

The point isn't to get them flowing, but to clear the water. They tend to clear quicker without a full flow. However, every lamp reacts a bit different; experiment, find what works for you, but I know the timer works. Maybe try 3-4 hours at a time. Come to think of it... I've only used this method on smaller lamps. Yes, you'll want more time with a grande.

I have tried the "cycle" thing many times, I have NEVER had a lamp clear up. I have run them for 2 weeks on a timer that runs them 5 hours on 2 hours off for 24 hours a day. I have tried several different patterns of time, never any better. Now I just toss it out and start over with a Goo Kit, it runs great and is super clear.
Let me stress... 2 weeks is NOT enough time. There is almost no cloudy lamp (of any size) that will clear in that amount of time, let alone a Grande. It requires patience, willingness to let them be as they are. Just like a crazy relative. Patience. It will take anywhere from 3-6 months. If you prefer other methods, (possibly expensive methods) that doesn't hurt my feelings, do what works.
My red/clear grande arrived somewhat cloudy. I cycled it 8 hours on / 8 hours off for two or so weeks with no improvement. I left it off a couple months (not sure how long) and just the other day I noticed the liquid was fairly clear. I turned it on and it clouded up again once it got warm.
