I have a neon pink Heritage Grande arriving in the next couple of days. The out of production neon green version eludes my capture......humpf! I'm thinking about attempting to hunt down another pink and re-goo (is that the right word?) it green. Since I haven't attempted this on a smaller globe this is nowhere to begin correct? Plus this could get a bit pricey I'm assuming? Everything I have so far is vintage with the except of the pink grande. I didn't expect a new lamp would be so difficult to find. Were they taken out of production for being defective? Forgive me if this is a question for Captain Obvious but like I said, I'm dipping into the new goo for the first time. I WAS resisting..........

They phased out their entire Heritage series. It was originally from 2013, I believe. So it seems it was time to move the line out. Now, we have even more Colormax product to look forward to...
I wish they would give the painted globes and shrink wrap bases a rest, already. lol
there are a few different ways to go about this. one would be to use a goo kit and color the wax neon green using a highlighters. there are instructions here on how to use highlighters to color wax. the flourescent green dye from goo kit won't work for this, so don't go that route. it will only make the wax fluoresce green under black light. another option is to buy neon green lamps from LL and dump to contents into the grande globe. this may cost a bit, but would get you pretty close to the LL neon green. another option is to purchase a multi-color grande which has white wax and color it to your liking with highlighters or another type of dye. i can't believe the neon green heritage grandes are gone. at one time they were abundant!
I have posted about using highlighters, but that is to color the water, not the wax. You can use oil based candle wax dyes, either dye chips or liquid.

Thanks everyone. Here's my plan....since I've haven't played with making my own creation YET, it would probably be cheaper and less aggravating to first experiment on an empty 52 ounce globe I have. Meanwhile, I'll love the pink chameleon and wait for its green mate to pop up.
Critter, thanks for bringing me back to my happy place!
Michael, I agree, the shrink wrap should be saved for Easter eggs.
keith - oh yeah, that is right!
you will enjoy the pink, wanda. the heritage grandes have really good flow. i agree - experimenting with a 52oz sounds like a good plan.

The pink/red neon is nice, but I'm partial to the neon green. You must have one.
The only trouble I have with them is that sometimes the wax flips up abruptly when first heated, the lamp shakes, and the decorative cap rattles. Only lasts a few seconds, but the rattle can make you jump!
I bought one of them for my mom, and the first time it did this to her, she immediately turned it off, because she thought something was fixing to blow! I had to reassure her that nothing was wrong -- this was just an added feature of her motion lamp.
The problem with the neon flipping is that sometimes the coil stays flipped, and you have to twist the globe to get it reseated on the bottom.
Now, if you want to see a colossal lava lamp blow up, Wanda, take a look at Critter's experience.
Kirk,
I agree that the green is awesome it is my favorite of the two lamps. Probably because green is my favorite color.
I just hope to have Wanda realize how good the Pink is too. I nearly skipped buying a pink and just buy one in green but I am glad I didn't.
Neither of mine do the wax flip at all they just spike, melt and flow like a dream. The flip would not concern me though as I have smaller 52oz lamps that do it. By the way both if mine are the first batch lamps with the controversial double coil.
I see you mention my "Hell Week" with link and all. There is hardly a day that passes that I don't think about that week and that crazy lamp explosion. I miss that big purple and yellow lamp but the experience and tale that came out of it are priceless! LOL

Critter, I read about your hell week this morning and here it is 7 hours later and dang, I'm still without something valuable to say except....now you've gotten it all out of the way so it is smooth sailing from now on? So sorry about your pets. That can only be understood by someone that has been there. A friend of mine told me just last night that I will see all of my dogs in heaven.....I'll rest on that thought.
Now I'm finding myself thinking about lamps exploding........yeesh......
As far as appreciating the pink Heritage Grande......I JUST GOT IT a half hour ago!! (insert squeal here)
I work from home and get to see my lamps allllll day and I appreciate this one already. LOVE the black and the starlight....yes! It's clear and lit up. It looks like the wax wants to flip after only 15 minutes. But it's showing me that neon color......yum. Stay tuned. Now I want the green one even worse so yes Kirk, I must have one. I'm not spoiled......I'm addicted. Plus, I love green.

The pink arrived and is spectacular. If anyone spots the green one or has one to sell I'm looking to buy one.
