Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I saw on mathmos site a new (?) line of products and bought 2 astros, one blue with clear/turquoise and one black with clear/black.

They took some time to make it to my mailbox, without saying that the delivery guy put them right in front of my condo when I was out so anybody could have picked the package... Anyway, I'd have to say that I'm disappointed by the black/clear/black combo as it isn't black at all but deep purple,,, hi hi hi hello to ol' metal rock n' roll fans here.

It is such a long time I wanted a black/clear combo just to picture myself one minute in a Mulder's black goo situation, but no thanks to mathmos, this one won't make me  trip !

I just hate marketing, publicity and false allegations : when you say black it must not be purple !!!

PS: the turquoise is just gorgeous !

Hi, where did you buy the new Mathmos lamps? I've been searching unsuccesfully to buy one in

the UK and have it shipped to the US.  Is there a website I can purchase and have shipped

stateside?

I love the new All Black Astro, It is true though that the wax color is a weird dark plumb color, but I knew that from the Mathmos site, somewhere on the site there was a picture or explanation about the actual wax color.  But they probably should have called it the "Black from a Distance" Astro.

Great,  thanks for the quick response!  If I make progress, I'll certainly keep everyone informed.

according to u.k mathmos site the bottle is

Astro lava lamp bottle Clear-Black/Plum

Not suitable for Polished Silver Astro

Thanks Johnny!  I knew it was on the site somewhere as I had seen it too!

Yes,I know now, after some mails with a mathmos reprentative. She said that there was a bad spelling on the french side of the site and that have been corrected by now.

She said also that real black had the tendancy to leak into the liquid so the plum color. She is a beauty nevertheless. The turquoise one is more.. unsettled. There were chunks of dark stuff in it, supposedly pigments and not nice mathmos flowing, just making bubbles. The lava also was odd, with bubbles and fibers, trickles, whitish transluscent ones. After cycling it the condition seems to improve.
