Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hello everyone! I recently listed my vintage, new in the box Carlisle Lava Lamp on eBay and was told I should come here and create a post about it. :)

I have had several people now tell me that judging by pictures it is definitely un-used, globe or base. Base is still wrapped in original plastic. I have two manuals with it. The box is in super good condition! I believe this is probably the only one like this in this condition I will ever see in my lifetime! I can't even imagine how rare it is to find these lamps from the 70s new and in such great shape.

Honestly I have absolutely no idea what this is worth, but I feel this is something truly rare and any collector would love it! I'd love to see it go to a good home.

My listing is here, feel free to check it out! If it has no bids on it, I would be more than willing (and happy) to sell it outside of eBay for the right price.

It is definitely a nice lamp, I saw it yesterday, but $150 is way too steep for a lamp that I usually see mint (not in box/packaging) for about $50-$60.

I've seen Carlisle go for $70-$80 without the box. :)

You're certainly entitled to your own opinion in regards to price though!  I just know that I'll never find another one in this condition in my lifetime, so I feel it's worth it. It's definitely something that someone who is more interested in collecting than using it would want, as I know that I would never want to use it. That's actually the main reason I'm trying to sell it. I prefer buying used stuff rather than new.

That is Awesome! It even has the date from March 1980!!! I would love this piece, and the price is reasonable. I just don't prefer something like this. I would want to use it or display it, but really it just needs to be kept in the box in a nice dry closet or something. A hardcore collector is sure to buy it.

Thanks! I totally agree with you and know what you mean. I've thought the exact same thing. I'm hoping it goes to someone who really loves collecting and will find this lava lamp as a very special part of his or her collection.
