Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hey all

Recently received an 1988 Enchantress, and after spiking, she wont flow.I have tried a dimmer, and no go. It just domes. Using a clear 40w, it came with a frosted 40. Any suggestions?

Try a 60 watt and use your dimmer once it starts flowing.

Thank for that idea. I read about that, but I need to get a smaller 60. Will try it, thank you. Its a nice lamp, I really want to get it flowing.

Yeah 40s wouldn't cut it for me 60s should do the trick. A dimmer is key or it will overheat and the wax will float on the top.

Hum, my Enchantress flows just fine on a 40 W.  As a matter of fact I have a frosted in there and it overheats and I have to dim it.  The Enchantress is only a 32 oz globe and really shouldn't need a 60.  Might have another issue going on there.  Is the room really chilly?  You could try a 60, just to get it going, then back down to a 40.  You can fry the wax on a vintage running it too hot for too long.
