Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

ok so bacicly iv had this lamp for a good 2 years, pinkish water with yellow wax, looked awsome, but the other day when i turned it off the wax set stretching from top to bottom, when i turned it back on again all the wax floated, iv read in a few places that i need to make the water less dense with glicerin, but i thought id try changeing the water first, so i drained the water out, and slowly partialy filled with fresh water, with very little soap, but as soon as the lamp was almost fully warm, yet again, all the wax floated, need some sugestions of what to do to fix my lamp, hopeing is something simple as id love to get it working again, cheers

sweet as that sounds great, thanks for the info, last night i also noticed that the wax its self had alot of air in it, so i gently heated it up and cooled and heated again a fair few times and now its a nice solid piece of soft wax, hopefully this was a good thing to do lol
ok so to add some more info about my lamp
found the original box somehow! and its a LAVA Brand 20oz lamp
USA brand made in china lol in 2005, 36.3cm tall etc
hope that helps
ok, so it seems to be working again, but still atleast 60% of the wax is up the top rather than at the bottom, balls form and float and also they drop, but its quite often joining in the middle and sticking for a bit
yeh after doing everything that site said, it worked well but yeh still a fair bit of the wax wants to float, ill upload a picture so you can see, thanks for the replys.

ahh see thats the thing lol, my master fluid is only fresh water at the moment, no salt added and only very little soap added, and with that combination still 60% of the wax will float when its hot, i left it on for a good 4 hours and eventually the wax stoped flowing
yeh thats the way i was thinking, either way thank you very much for all your help, im going to buy another lamp, and at the same time im gona have a crack at makeing some new goo for the lamp that isnt working properly! cheers, Rob.
ill keep that in mind, thou id still love to have a crack at makeing my own goo, awaiting the addmitance to your group so i can start learning
