Shimmery pigment in glitter lamp?

Hi there, 

I made this account specifically to ask this question, ha! I just recently dyed my glitter lamp's liquid and replaced the degraded glitter, but less then 24 hours later the new glitter has also degraded. 

I was playing with the idea of replacing the glitter, again, but instead of adding new glitter I was thinking of using a loose silver pigment.I know the effect won't be the same, I was hoping for something similar to those shimmery alcoholic beverages that I've seen. Before I go to the store and grab my supplies I was wondering if anyone had tried this before? What were the results? Do you think it's a good/bad idea to try?
