Silver Glitterball - Transfer from Astrobaby to Jet Bottle - Method suggestions

Hi folks,

I am transferring the contents of a silver glitterball from an Astrobaby bottle to Jet.

 

Please comment on suggested method please:

 

Stage 1 - Clean Jet Bottle

Clean with hot soapy water. Rinse and Repeat

Dry bottle

 

Stage 2 - Tranfer of Glitterball Liquid

Pour cold directly into Jet bottle - with a funnel

(leaving a small amount of liquid in the bottle - to cover surface of metal wax

holding jet at an angle to minimise bubbling

 

Stage 3 - Transfer of Metallic Wax

Warm glitterball liquid in lamp ready to receive liquid metal wax

Heat metal wax in another lamp in bottle until it is liquid

Carefully pour metal wax into warm liquid - jet bottle

 

What finer points have i missed out? ( i'm a little worried about stage 3)

It all sounds good - what I do for a wax trandfer is heat the wax in the bottle (without the water) untill its melted then just pore it into the receving globe (which has the water from the previous lamp in).

I wouldnt pour it into warm liquid, just hot wax in cold liquid and then let it run. This way the wax will stay in one lump, if you use hot wax it will look like a mess coz the hot wax will not become solid when it hits the liquid. I've done many glitterball transfers this way!

Hi Simon,

I'm planning to do the same.

I just received a silver glitterball astrobaby.

Liquid is cloudy, and flow is static (a big long blob stays up without moving).

Did yours used to flow well in the astrobaby?

So did you poured the hot wax in cold or warm masterfluid finaly?

Hot wax into cold fluid - but flow can be erratic

Mine is soooo boring!

It doesn't move at all.

Just raising as a long slug, and stays like this for hours :-(

Not sure it worth to transfer it into a jet bottle (except if it enhance the flow?)

By the way, mine doesn't have coil (I read some have and some haven't).

And it started to flow in small balls right now! (I just switched off 1 mn)

If it's a Silver Glitterball you will DEFINITELY need a coil!!

(only the blue and green glitterballs don't have a metal coil - they have a rubber ring).

Well today it worked very well from the start.

and no coil (I didn't see any).

Maybe it didn't run well at the first start because it wasn't in use for a long time...

Yesterday I poured the wax from the astrobaby bottle to a Jet one, then filled it with brand new glycerin = it doesn't work anymore :-(

Then I added a coil, but the wax doesn't stick to it.
