Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

This lamp was shaken very badly and became extremly cloudy. I Ended up popping the cap and dumping the cloudy fluid and refilled it with distilled water, a dab of soap and a small amount of epsom salt. My first try, i ended up adding too much detergant to the globe and it got really stringy and bubbly. On my second try, I finally got it right. Over all I am very happy woth the results.(much better than throwing the thing out)

Good to hear someone fixed one. Lol. I had one - dumped it down the toilet. Will never touch a China lamp again. I have another 52oz red that I will probably be selling here shortly. Doesn't flow worth a damn. One or two BIG blobs and that's it. Pure junk.

The only China lamps that flowed were my clear/white and my clear/lime. Everything else has been crap.
Looks good. Keep us posted if it continues to work. A lot of soap companies make their soap with regular water and eventually impurities will leak out. I have come across this problem before. All in all it looks good though, bravo.
what kind and how much soap and salt did you use? I want to try it too! :)

thanks in advance!
really, I just added a little salt at a time and watched the activity, if nothing happened, I added more. I also guessed on the soap (you can see my failure picture from adding too much) I used CVS brand epsom salt (MGSO4) and I used some clear scentless soap. An update- It has worked perfectly so far, the only problem I found is that some of the wax is starting to stick to the globe.

Hiya Jimmy,

I got a similiar problem. I used Epsom salts and Fairy liquid and was going to post instructions on here as it worked perfectly. But after two days the goo has started to stick to the side of the globe and is not moving. Any ideas why this started to happen?
