Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Wax won't stick to coil? This trick worked great for me-

I used a torch lighter to super-heat the bad coil, then dropped it sizzling hot into my container of melted goo.  Something about that worked, when nothing else I tried had.  The lamp with that coil is working great now!

Was this on an older lamp or as part of a newer goo kit?

The goo is from a goo kit and the coil is out of a LL lamp bought at Spencer's about 3 years ago.

Very interesting, I will have to try that. I have a spring or two that the wax refuses to stick to.

LampHead-I'd love to know if it works on your coils too...would ya post your outcome?

I better warn that if the torch hits the spring too long in one place, the spring may try to contort.  Mine did at first, but I jus bent it back like it was supposed to be. But I did keep up the heat anyway, until it got glowing red hot...

I sure will post my findings. I always thought it was some kind of coating on the spring that kept the wax from sticking so torching it makes sense.

Any update on this?  I am needing to correct a couple of coils and am planning to try this.
