Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Ok, so I find (what claims to be a) clear/orange lavalite on ebay recently. I really should have known by the lack of pictures and info, but the lamp is...kinda weird. First of all, it does NOT look orange. Here's the globe, while cooled:

It's pretty cloudy, but besides that...the wax looks like butterscotch. Is this a bleached out clear/orange, or some other color? The flow is actually good once it gets going, so I don't think it's a burnt out clear/yellow or clear/white (or a burned out clear/orange, for that matter).

It was made in China, so the color codes on the cap are weird, but here's the cap:

Anybody know what this is?

#8403 White / Blue (The 80s "popular model")

Looks to be a faded Blue White. They get like that when they are extremely used and abused in sunlight.

If you cycle it enough, over time it should clear up and you will have a clear/white (cream) lamp.

BLUE WHITE...really? Wow. And they were still using the same formulas in China in 2003?

The formula changed in 2003 when they moved production to China. Lava Lite said it didn't, but IT DID. Yes, you have a very faded blue/white. You could always pop the cap and add a drop of blue dye (or do a different color).

Just figured out why this lamp looks slightly orangey...the coil is rusted. :-/ Great. I'm probably going to end up kitting this one too!
