Prior to the rerelease of a limited number of Colossi a few weeks ago, collectors were paying top dollar for the very few that came on the market. Only 3 have appeared on eBay since 2009, one in the UK and two in the US with the most recent sold for $1500.00 with out shipping (estimated at over $400.00).
Now seems like a good time to start a separate group dedicated to this great work of art and other similar lamps. The most recent thread on OG has over hundreds of entries and is the longest thread ever!
Hey Y’all! Any body interested in the trade of the decade? I’m willing to trade a Colossus for a XXl Lunar or maybeanother large exotic rocket lamp. LMK! Cheers, JethroContinue

I wonder if its ok to use a 250 watt non BR40 bulb? I got a bulb that looks the same but the numbers are 250R40/HT Westinghouse and it was 4 dollars cheaper.
Nice mods. What is the model number/description on the 300w bulb you are using? I'd like to pick one up.
A 300W bulb helps it warm up faster...mine will warm up in about 5 hours in a 60-62 degree room. It also creates bubbles of hot water that flow inside the goo. They reach the goo surface and pop or escape the goo intact and rise quickly to the top. I dont use 100% power very often except to warm up in a hurry. I've been researching transparent goo in order to see the bubbles better. It adds another interesting dimension to the lamp. I've also tried some experiments with my 300mW laser...it can pop bubbles!
I ran mine for almost a week at 50-60%
My 250 watt bulb seems to work just fine! My lamp has a amazing flow at about 60-100% range on the dimmner. How long can you run these lamps at one time? Is 24 hours to long?
I've been using a 300W bulb with some interesting result. Anybody else tried something different?
