I LOVE wave machines but i think this is a little high especially the shipping!
The site was a place were you USE TO be able to buy the waves there discontinued now of course but for some reason the link still works?
  • Steve Donoghue

I agree Wayne. By the time that I pay for shipping, I will have paid over $100 Cdn. That's a little too steep for my budget. Or should I say the third revision of my budget. Thanks for the link. I'll keep looking.
  • Rhea Nelson

Gee! I thought I was probably the only person looking for one of these, and now I find there's even a web-based group of us. I've found some knock-offs that have plastic dolphins and/or surfers inside, but I want one similar to those in the photos you folks have posted. Guess I'll need to hit all of the flea markets I can find!
  • UndeadJorge

Can one be made with wiper blade motor? To make container make waves going bump bump.

    Hey Rhea, check your messages!
  • Rhea Nelson

Back from visiting my first grandbaby and ready to share good-news-bad-news info about my wave machine search. This is a condensed version of my response to VixenGypsy's follow-up (thanks for asking, V.) I got a wave machine on eBay. It worked fine when I inserted new batteries. I gave it to my daughter. It worked for less than 10 seconds, then quit. Don't know what to do next. She noticed that one of the springs in the battery compartment is fairly "sprung," so she's going to try to find a compatible power cord. Any suggestions for trouble-shooting? Thanks.
  • Rhea Nelson

Need to connect with VixenGypsy. The answer is yes on the purple wave, but I'm not sure my notes are reaching you. Please contact me. Thanks. Rhea.

One got away from me on eBay a couple days ago for around $40 including shipping with box! Just as soon as you get complacent and expect then to jump to the usual $100 (price and shipping) you miss one like that. I meant to keep checking on it having looked at it as close as 2 hours before the end. Then got busy with something else and missed it. Somebody probably had a max bid put on it anyway that would have spiked the price up.
  • Mark Templeton

I've had such a hard time finding a reasonably affordable one of these I have a new idea. Since I am a salt water fish keeper, I know you can get wave makers for aquariums for maybe $25. I think I'll find a cheap tank on Craigslist, buy a wave maker, maybe fill it 1/2 to 3/4 full, put in blue food coloring, and see what happens! I can always use it for my existing fish tank. If it's as cool as I hope, I may have a new business on my hands since these are impossible to find.
  • wayne miller

hey "Mark Templeton " you sure it wasn't $61 plus shipping when it sold lol there have been 3 for sell in the past few weeks, including the one below.

  • wayne miller

1)sure add me as a friend 2) read though some of my post 3) i can tell you that at least one of the original fluids is flammable and that the part that is on top is some form of oil / fuel and its thinner than baby oil and thicker than paraffin oil ( lamp oil ) pm me i can tell ya a lot more!
  • wayne miller

Never even seen one, that being said i would say it would sell for a small fortune!! ( $ 1500 ?? )
  • Jethro

$1500, Ouch! Poerhaps we can get a few folks together and make like 10 of them and share the cost? I've bot a source for plexiglass tubes.
  • wayne miller

The fluids are the hard part, they have to be an exact density / viscosity. You figure that out my freind and were in business. I have tried sevreal things, with none of them working! I have sevreal cast acrylic tubes already and a couple extra bases just can't figure out what to put in the tube lol .
  • Jethro

Thanks for your note Wayne..Well i am an analytical chemist by education...I just need the use of a Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer and perhaps a gas chromatograph to figure it out.

The hard part is making the liquids clear.
  • Bernhard Stransky

This is for Wayne, sir your a genius, that sight gave a crazy idea. Thosetumbling multi colored toys, specifically the one in the form ofa volcano. Wouldn't it make great lava lamp. Same concept but different fluids. A permanently affixed model volcano with openings at the bottom of the globe allowing the ooze to recombine with the coil only to be oozed through the upper opening of the volcano sending the ooze to the very top of the globe giving the illusion of the active volcano, and continuing the cycle over and over like the regular lava lamp. Man you could even arrange a color wheel of sorts give the lamp a miriad of colors. Hey even better make globe a floor model, just a huge volcano. A person could vary the flow of the lava to their liking, long slow connected type or a short fast segmented type. I can see now in my mind working, flowing. This idea came about, because of our autistic son loves volcano and I figured why not get him one those liquid-motion toy, the volcano type. But he'd frutrate over having to boringly flip the toy over and over. If it could only ooze out the top of the volcano like the lava lamps. Dah, I'm so brain dead, the words were uttered from my mouth, and my brain caught on well only after mentally seeing my son just light up over his new toy lava lamp volcano. I know, I know it's a crazy idea, but seeing children enjoying themselves, when the world is over-populated with things trying to destroy those small precious moments. Well another reason to look forward to tomorow. And of course the challenge is irresitable, plus what an awesome distraction. Thanx a bunch for the heads up Wayne, your a genius man.

And one giant base ( mine lol )

Can someone tell me the value and the age of a model 1800 with sound and tone control switches? Pictures to follow shortly...

  • HughesWaveMotionMachinesLLC

Roughly $350 depending on the condition. A lot of the older machines have fluid loss and do not make proper waves.
  • Stephanie Church

Can you tell me the age? There is no fluid loss. It is in perfect condition. The motion and sound are exactly as new... Any info shared would be appreciated.

  • HughesWaveMotionMachinesLLC

The Soundwave is from the mid 1990s.
