That's a good idea - thanks for the suggestion! We've had a very cool and overcast spring so far and the hot sunny days have been few and far between which is unusual for my part of the world (South Australia). Usually we'd be sweltering and up to our necks in perspiration by now with heaps of days in the 30's (celcius)! There'll be plenty of those to come though - last February we had 16 days in a row over 35 - if that doesn't fade a grande nothing will!

You might try shinning a black light on it if available or ultraviolet light for a proplong period of time like overnight or something. these usually suck the color out of a lava lamp

Thanks Bohdan - so far so good! I can't believe how this lamp has gone from being such an ugly duckling to a reasonable looking swan! When it was blue with brown/red wax what little you could see of it flowing looked like entrails - eesh! It scared my wife! The glass also started out with a heap of "smear" marks - most of them have cleared up but a few remain such as the one on the left of the photo... now it's flowing great with a dimmer and it puts on a hell of a light show with all the colours it throws out during its cycle - I'm lovin' it and I'm glad I didn't rush into pulling it apart to mess around with!
