Just got this on eBay. My grandmother had the same lamp in the early 70's and she ended up giving it to me but it met an unfortunate fate. So now after 40 years I have it again. I'll probably refill it with the same color.

I have a Regency like this and I have a Kaleidolite too and the bases are not the same. The Kaleidolite base does not rise up as much in the center area. Actually it does not step up in a dramatic manner at all it is much more like a Consort base. Perhaps there is more than one type of base on a Kaleidolite.
As far as I know, 1966-1969. Metal caps came first, and there are two styles: a stepped cap which hasn't been seen, and this one. I don't think the wall version (Empress) was made for very long with wood caps; it WAS, I've seen wood-capped Empresses, but catalogs depicting the wood cap don't list the Empress. On bases: Quite a bit of confusion on wood parts. Before the change-over, you had Consort and Regency using the same base. Regency, Consort, Night Lite and Meditation Series/Prayer Lites use wooden bases, and the Princess and Empress had wood backs. Later, the Empress and Prayer Lites were discontinued, the Regency got this new wood base (which was also used for the Kaleidolite), the Princess retained its wood back, and a new model, the Executive, got a wood base... and yet the Consort and Night Lite switched to plastic and the new Windsor got a faux wood metal base!Another note: the first catalog to describe the 1966 line-up called the Regency and Empress the "Royal Series." After the Empress was discontinued, some later catalogs show the Regency renamed to just Royal.
So anyone know which came first, the metal cap regencies or the wood? What span of years was the Regency produced?
I have pretty much that exact lamp. I was able to filter the fluids and the lamp turned out great and runs like a champ. Listen to Jonas....if you do need to refill use good condition Century bottle fluids of a similar vintage.
Need you refill, though? No modern fill can beat the 60s flow.
