Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

5 days in 40+ degrees (celcius that is, and in a row!). I covered the wax with a cloth and now the fluid is crystal clear. My bottle wasn't the best either - lots of marks and scratches in it but it looks much better now that it's clear.

Now this is a nicely faded lamp. I tried this very recently on a purple/red goo Astro and managed to fade the purple right down to near clear in a similar timescale. The lamp was placed in a greenhouse for 10 days during the English winter with very little direct sunlight. I was amazed at how quickly the liquid turned. I did not cover the goo.

Sorry to take a while to reply to this, it's been a busy couple of weeks at work...
First I tried laying the bottle down and covering the bottom 3rd with a cloth but once the wax melted it flowed up the side into the sunlight, so then I sat it in a bowl, tipped it over so its on a 45ish degree angle and covered the base with a cloth. When the wax melted it stayed in the bottom and didn't get any sunlight. The fluid was pretty tough actually - it took about 5 days of 40 degree temps to clear it!

How did you "cover" the wax? Did you just leave the bottle as is and put it out in the sun and wrapped the bottom of the bottle?

Brilliant! I can't wait to try this next summer.
