Crestworth Astro Mark 1 Base (two parts)

I was surprised when I opened the package to see that it comes in two pieces. I had never read that much about the history of Astros so this, combined with the bottle, lead me to believe that this is a very early Astro. I am curious as to the approximate age. When did they stop making the Astro like this?
