This is the base of what I now see is likely the first version of the Crestworth Astro. It clearly had a cord replaced and is missing the grommet where the cords runs into the base.

Aladdin 2 Lava-
I know! I was looking for a Lantern, then saw a few Astros pop up. I picked the cheapest one, thinking someone would probably nab it. I paid 20 pounds for this on UK ebay. Shipping wasn't too much, though I did have it go to my forwarding agent. The shipping from there to the US only took a few days. Overall, I am probably in for $100, maybe less. I am stunned that this lamp could be from the very early 60's... possibly 50 years old. If the bottle and lava is original, then it is miraculous.
Rare gets bantered about on ebay and other sites way too much!!!... this is the real deal !!!
