I know right John!!!  I'm more of a color person myself, but I'm kind of fascinated by the white goo.....looks like big marshmallows moving around in there, lol!!!  I still want another blue though.  I think I may email Kim at Magma and ask if he could send me out another blue dye to try.  I want to tell him that the one I have keeps fading out to a weird looking plum color and it happens over the matter of a few weeks.  This lamp is not even in direct sunlight as I cover my lamps with pillowcases every morning........

The original wax was an orange color, but it was suppose to be red. It also had a lot of white chunks in it, and the coil was rusty.

That's for sure, but now i'm in the same boat as you. I like the white / clear combo yet I have 5 dyes in front of me so many possibilities.
